⚙️ Mechanics Complete
The game is “mechanics complete” for now. This means that I will have two more phases before calling it an official Demo:
- Polish user interface, effects, sounds, animations, etc. as long as I can motivate myself
- Add more content like enemies, bosses, upgrades, items, stages, etc. as long as I can motivate myself.
🛠️ Changes in this Version
New Goal
The goal is now to get as far (stage-wise) as possible within a single run. A run is now limited to 30 minutes which is also shown by a timer in the upper right.
Weapons
- The main weapon’s damage is no longer randomized
- The knock-back is now weaker
- The player character now moves at 50% speed while you shoot the main weapon
- You have a new seconday close-range weapon which does more damage
- Both weapons and their cooldowns now show at the bottom
Due to these changes, the input keys changed slightly. Right-click fires the new close-range weapon. To throw the bomb, press Q
.
End Bosses
At the end of each stage, you now call an end-boss. This means no more shooting at the black box! The current end-boss is more or less a placeholder/test to introduce the mechanic. It has three stages/intensities.
Balancing
Enemies behave a bit different compared to alpha 15.
- They load up and charge the player when they attack
- They “hear” you from “behind” when you get too close to them (no more sneaking right up to them from behind)
Other
- You can now pause the game when you hit the Escape key during a game.
- Updated the engine from Godot 4.2 to Godot 4.3
- Various smaller fixes, refactorings, and updates
